S/PDIF or S/P-DIF stands for Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format, also IEC 958 type II, part of IEC-60958. It is a collection of hardware and low-level protocol specifications for carrying PCM stereo digital audio signals between devices and stereo components. S/P-DIF s/pdif circuit is a consumer definition s/pdif optical cable of s/pdif version of the standard known as AES/EBU; internal s/pdif in connector it provides small differences in the protocol and requires less expensive hardware.
ApplicationsS/PDIF microphone preamp s/pdif is primarily used with CD players (and DVD players playing CDs), and it is becoming common on other audio components like MiniDiscs and convert s/pdif to usb modern computer s/pdif desktop computer s/pdif cable audio cards. It is also popular in car audio, where the former mess of wiring can be s/pdif connector replaced with a single fibre optic cable, which is immune to electrical noise. Another common use for the S/PDIF interface is to carry compressed digital s/pdif 6-channel pass-through audio as defined by the standard internal s/pdif in connector cable IEC 61937. This mode is used to connect the output asus s/pdif digital audio module of a DVD player usb to s/pdif to a home radioshack s/pdif rca theater receiver that supports Dolby s/pdif to digital coax Digital or DTS surround sound. Hardware SpecificationsThe "S/PDIF" specifications allow several different types of cables and connectors which usb to s/pdif conversion must match the device being used. Key words for the electrical type are "coaxial" and "RCA jack." The other type is called "optical" with the word "TOSLINK" often used, or less-often, EIAJ. Adaptors do exist to convert the coaxial RCA Jack S/PDIF to the optical TOSLINK S/PDIF and vice versa (though most individual adaptors are one-way only). All require some sort of external power supply. The "optical" version is suitable for several applications because of its immunity to electrical s/pdif format noise. S/PDIF was developed from a standard used in the professional audio field, known as AES/EBU which is s/pdif audio connector asus a7n8x commonly used in Digital usb to s/pdif converter Audio Tape (DAT) systems and for digtal s/pdif transmissions in professional studio recording. 75 ohm coaxial rg59 video cables s/pdif explained and s/pdif S/PDIF remained identical at the protocol level, but changed the physical what is s/pdif connectors from XLR to either electrical coaxial RCA jacks or optical TOSLINK, both of which cost less and are easier to use. The cable was also changed from 110Ω (ohms) impedance definition of s/pdif output out port balanced twisted pair montego ii s/pdif to the already internal s/pdif in connector dvd s/pdif description rom drive far more common (and therefore compatible and inexpensive) 75Ω coaxial cable, s/pdif cd-rw-5000 using RCA jacks instead of the "F" connector found in cable television. S/PDIF asus s/pdif out is, for all intents, a consumer version of the AES/EBU format.
Protocol SpecificationsS/PDIF is used to transmit digital signals of a number of formats, the most common being the s/pdif standard opcode usb to s/pdif 48 kHz sample rate format used in DAT, and the 44.1 kHz format convert usb to s/pdif used in CD audio. In s/pdif receiver order to support both systems, as well as others that might be needed, the format has no defined data rate. s/pdif d90 Instead the data is sent using Biphase Mark Code, which has either one or two transitions for every bit, allowing the original word clock to be extracted s/pdif s/pdif i/o soundcards connector on computer about s/pdif from can a s/pdif out port on a pc be s/pdif to usb connected to speakers the signal itself. S/P-DIF is meant to be used for transmitting s/pdif 20 bit audio data streams plus other wmapro over s/pdif dmo - broken related information. It can be reduced to 16 bits by zero padding or to 24 bits by renouncing s/pdif digtal audio anlog convertor s/pdif microphone the extra information. Since the low-level protocol is almost the same, it is described in the AES/EBU article. The only difference is in the toslink to coax s/pdif "Channel status bit". The Channel Status Bit in the S/P-DIFThere is s/pdif digital sound port one channel status bit in each subframe, making a 192 bits word each audio block. This means that there are 192/8 s/pdif output convertor = 24 bytes available each audio block. The meaning of the channel status bit is completely used s/pdif a/d converter different between AES/EBU and the S/P-DIF. For the ati how many audio channels can you send on s/pdif aiw 9600xt s/pdif SPDIF, the 192 bit word is divided in 12 words of 16 bits each. The first 6 bits of the first word are a control code; the meaning of its bits are shown in detail in the following s/pdif to adat table:
Other InformationS/PDIF is defined by the international standard IEC 60958-3. S/PDIF is covered by the following patent: EP000000811295B1. It can be downloaded here: http://depatisnet.dpma.de See also

The field of electronics is the study and use of systems that operate by controlling the flow of electrons or other electrically charged particles in devices such as thermionic valves and semiconductors. The design and construction of electronic circuits to solve practical problems is part of the fields of electronic engineering, and the hardware design side of computer engineering. The study of new semiconductor devices and their technology is sometimes considered as a branch of physics. # - A | B | Co - Cz | C - Cm | D Em - F | E - El | G - H | I - K | L - Ma |
